As some, if not all by now, of you know I wasn’t always a radio host. I did however insist on having a mic on me or at the very least someone who could provide a beat. While writing I found it a necessity to keep a shoebox, basically a central location for me to throw random pieces of paper that I’d write on and avoid losing them. Of course, once neglected they’d be forgotten about, but pulling them out, or digging deep in the shoebox always provided some newfound joy. Similar to that pair of pants you throw on that you haven’t worn in a while, and find an old $20 bill inside, a simple pleasure I know. It became important to me, a growing part of my emcee career was putting in, then tapping from my shoebox. As I continued writing and growing in that area, the need to simply express my ideas beyond song grew as well. Back then, the outlet remained the same, just a plain old pen and a pad. I found the value of my shoebox then to be heightened today, as the platforms have broadened so has the need for me to reach out and express thoughts far beyond the realm of sports talk radio. Here is where we arrive to the shoebox, an opportunity to discuss things that pop in my head, as we welcome discourse on a vast array of topics. Things that will stretch, upset, & push you. But I can’t do it alone, so let’s see what we can uncover in the shoebox…
